If you are looking to get your first tattoo or piercing ever or just your first here at Runic you have some questions and your research has landed you here on our website. We are in the process of making a collection of videos and animations that go over what to expect with every piercing that we do here at runic and also what to expect with both our tattooing process and also laser tattoo removal. Please check back as we will post these as soon as we have them completed. It is our goal to become the best online refernce we can be for our customer base.

Here are some of the most asked questions we run into with our customers:

How old do you have to be to get a tattoo or piercing without parental permission?

You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid, state issued ID.

How old do you have to be to get a tattoo with parental permission and what sort of documentation do we have to bring in?

You must be at least 14 years old and your parent must be present. You also must have corresponding, state issued IDs (as in matching last names and addresses) or IDs with a birth certificate.

What piercings can I get at what age with parental permission?

Due to health concerns over children having their ears pierced at mall-type locations with a piercing gun, we do offer children's lobe piercings at Runic. Please call Jason for details.

Navel, nose, cartledge, eyebrow, lip: 14 years old
tounge: 16
anything else (including dermals): 18 and up

Can I make an appointment?

You can make an appointment for tattoos either by phone or in person, however, you must put down a $40 deposit. If you keep your appointment this $40 will be put towards the final cost. If you miss your appointment you will forfit your deposit.

We do not make appointments for piercings. We are such a high volume piercing shop it is just impractical to have appointments. It is always 1st come 1st serve.

Is there anything I should do to prepare for my tattoo or body piercing?

It is highly recommended that you eat a substancial meal before you come in. The reason for this is that your blood sugar level plays a significant role when it comes to customers passing out or dealing with nausea that can sometimes accompany a procedure. By eating a good meal at least 4 hours before you come in, you can greatly reduce this risk and make your experience  much more comfortable.

How do we make sure that all of our equipment is truly clean and sterile?

We only use single use, gas sterilized, piercing and tattoo needles. All of our reusuable equipment is put through a hospital grade sterilization process that includes a 3 part cleaning process. 1. All used equipment is immediately put into a chemical sterilization agent. 2. The soaking instruments are then put through an ultra-sonic machine, hand scrubbed, cleaned, and rinsed with clean water. 3. They are then run through one of our hospital grade autoclaves. An autoclave kills bacterias, viruses, and fungus spores through high pressure and very high tempatures. We also have a 3rd party laboratory check our autoclaves with a monthly spore test to ensure that all of our equipment is running properly. We also wipe down all of our working surfaces with another chemical disinfectant wipe after EVERY procedure.

What kind of training and certifications do the artists and apprentices at Runic have?

All of our artists and apprentices are required to have their Bloodborne Pathogens Certification, CPR, and First Aid Certifications. All of our artists also have had a full apprenticeship and a minimum of 4 years shop expience at a reputable shop. We also stongly encourage all of our artists to continue to attend new/continuing training and learning opportunities within our industry.

What Clients Say

I took my 3 daughters (7, 5 and 3) to have their ears pierced and it couldn't have been a better experience. We may not be the typical customer, but everyone was very nice to us. Jason was very patient with my girls, answering their many nervous questions. The shop is very clean, organized and appeared well run. The employees seem to enjoy their jobs and all that we met were very friendly. I would highly recommend this shop
